It’s not every day that our fearless leader, Maryland’s DJ founder Jordan Solender, steps behind the booth. While he loves DJing, he spends more of his time managing the business and making sure we’re wowing every couple. “But when I met [Cole and Summer],” he says, “I immediately knew I had to DJ their wedding. It was a ton of fun.”
Plus, it was at one of his favorite wedding venues, the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club. DJ Jordan set the mood with acoustic covers as the guests arrived and mingled under the September sun. “It was a beautiful day for an outdoor ceremony,” Jordan recalls. “Not too hot, not too cold.” The ceremony was on the Tavern Ballroom lawn, with a beautiful brick fireplace serving as a backdrop and the Chesapeake Bay sparkling just a few feet away.
For the grandparents’ and parents’ entrances, the couple chose a sweet cover of Louis Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World by Relaxing Piano Man. Next, the wedding party entrance was accompanied by an instrumental version of Can’t Help Falling in Love by cellist Vesislava Todorova.
Finally, Summer made her grand procession into the ceremony space to I Get to Love You by Ruelle. To capture every sweet moment (and make them look seriously stunning), the photography and video team of Wild & Roam was on hand. We had never worked with this pair before, and were totally blown away by their vibes—a little moody, a little sexy, seriously romantic. Check out their Instagram and just try not to feel things…you will fail.
After the ceremony, the couple paraded back down the aisle to Tyler Childers’ All Your’n, starting about a minute in. Pro tip: If you love a song but only part of it matches the vibe you’re after for your wedding, that’s no problem. Our DJ’s can start and stop songs at any point for smooth transitions.
After the ceremony, the party moved up to the Tavern Ballroom rooftop deck for an al fresco cocktail hour. What better way to start the celebration than sipping champagne with spectacular bay views at sunset?
After a brief interval, it was time to party. The ceremony was in the venue’s Tavern Ballroom, a beachy space with big windows to let in plenty of light. The wedding party danced in to The Anthem by Pitbull, followed by Summer and Cole to Bring ‘Em Out by T.I.
After this upbeat opening, things slowed wayyyy down. Summer and Cole took the dance floor for their first dance to Perfect by Ed Sheeran and Beyoncé. Then Cole and his mom danced to Thought You Should Know by Morgan Wallen. Summer had two parent dances—The Girl You Think I Am by Carrie Underwood with her dad, and Like My Mother Does by Lauren Alaina with her mom.
After that, it was time to open up that dance floor! DJ Jordan remembers, “This wedding had everything from EDM to Grandma getting down to hip-hop music.” In between shaking it, the party headed out to the photo booth to take tons of pictures. The couple asked for the booth to be all white, “Kardashian-style.”
As the party came to a close, Summer and Cole chose a unique way of ending the night. They ushered everyone outside at about 10:45pm to pick up glow sticks and bubbles for the send off. While they were outside, Summer and Cole had a private last dance to Forever and Ever and Always by Ryan Mack, letting them take their last looks at each other and their wedding venue before they had to go. When they were done, Summer popped on a leather jacket and the happy pair ducked outside for a sweet farewell.
It was such a treat to be part of Summer and Cole’s fabulous September wedding. To work with us for your big day, get in touch! Let’s get your date booked so we can start picking music, setting cues, and building the soundtrack for the best day of your life.
