Country weddings in Carroll County

Maryland's DJ provides wedding DJs for Westminster and the rest of Carroll County. Your DJ plays the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception, serves as MC, and can add uplighting and a photo booth. We have played four weddings at Antrim 1844 in Taneytown.

Westminster and the farmland around it are made for weddings with room to breathe. We have written about four Westminster venues for farm-loving couples, including the Carroll County Farm Museum and the Westminster Riding Club.

A barn or a tent is not a ballroom. Power, acoustics and weather all change the plan, and we work those details out with you and your venue ahead of time.

Westminster wedding DJs for every size of celebration

Just up the road in Taneytown, Antrim 1844 is one of our favorite places to play. We were there for Jake and Stephanie’s wedding and for Hannah and Justin’s minimony, a small ceremony with only a handful of guests.

Whatever the size, the process is the same. We start with a free planning call, you choose your music in our online planning portal, and your DJ acts as MC on the day so the schedule stays on track.

  • Taneytown

    Antrim 1844

A Greek revival mansion built in 1844 on a 24 acre estate of lawns and rose gardens at the base of the Catoctin Mountains, with 40 guest rooms in the mansion and its outbuildings. Ceremonies are held in the formal English Tea Rose Garden or in the glass pavilion, which also holds dinner and dancing. We have written up four weddings here. Jake and Stephanie married under the elm tree in the Secret Garden in June with 85 guests, and Hannah and Justin held a July minimony for 25. DJ Steve Hartka played Juan and Jessica's April wedding, with custom uplighting in the pavilion, and Steve and Erica's May wedding, with the reception in a white tent on the grounds.

    Carroll County Farm Museum

A museum dedicated to the area's farming history that is also a wedding venue. The main reception barn holds 80, which suits smaller family groups. Ceremonies use the garden and gazebo, two covered pavilions give guests shelter from sun or rain, and there is a covered bridge for photos.

    Westminster Riding Club

Ceremonies can be held inside or outside in the courtyard. The banquet hall is the showstopper, with a soaring cathedral ceiling clad in horizontal planking, and the club has its own exclusive caterer.

    Montagu Meadows

An 1800s barn on a former horse farm. Ceremonies are held in the orchard or overlooking the pond and stream, with a tent on site in case of rain. The reception is in the barn, lit with crystal chandeliers, and a 2,000 square foot patio beside it can serve as the dance floor.

    The Christian Royer House

A red brick house with green shutters, close to two centuries old, with a historic cabin on the property. Most couples say their vows under a large tree on the banks of the pond, and the reception is in a fully walled white tent with solid flooring.

Questions about booking a DJ in Westminster

Do you DJ weddings in Westminster?

Yes. Maryland's DJ plays weddings in Westminster and around Carroll County, from barns and farms to historic estates such as Antrim 1844 in Taneytown. We bring the music and the sound system, and your DJ acts as MC so the schedule stays on track.

Have you played Antrim 1844?

Yes, it is one of our favorite places to play. Read Jake and Stephanie's June wedding, Hannah and Justin's July minimony, Juan and Jessica's April wedding and Steve and Erica's May wedding. We have also written an Antrim 1844 venue guide and a second guide with the venue's own team.

Where do ceremonies and receptions happen at Antrim 1844?

Three of the four couples we have written about married in the English Tea Rose Garden, Hannah and Justin under the white wedding arch. Jake and Stephanie chose the Secret Garden instead and said their vows under a massive elm tree hung with strands of ivory flowers. Jake and Stephanie, and Steve and Erica, held cocktail hour out in the garden. For dinner and dancing, Jake and Stephanie, Hannah and Justin, and Juan and Jessica used the glass enclosed pavilion, and Steve and Erica held their reception in a white tent on the grounds.

What if it rains or it is hot on our wedding day?

Antrim 1844 has an answer for both. Our venue guide describes the glass pavilion as bright, sunny and comfortable in all weather, and one couple used it for a rainy Sunday wedding. In June, Jake and Stephanie moved from cocktail hour in the garden to the air conditioned pavilion for the reception, and Hannah and Justin's party went inside to escape the July humidity. At a barn or a tent the plan is different, so we work out power, acoustics and weather with you and your venue ahead of time.

Can you DJ a small wedding or a minimony?

Yes. Hannah and Justin's minimony had 25 guests, with the ceremony in the rose garden and a first dance, a father and daughter dance and a mother and son dance in the pavilion. Jake and Stephanie had 85 guests, and that crowd made it feel like a packed house. Whatever the size, the planning process is the same.

Which Westminster venues have you written about?

Our guide to four Westminster venues for farm-loving couples covers the Christian Royer House, Montagu Meadows, the Carroll County Farm Museum and the Westminster Riding Club. If you are getting married in Westminster or the surrounding area, we will bring the party to you.

What is different about a DJ at a barn, farm or tent wedding?

A barn or a tent is not a ballroom. Power, acoustics and weather all change the plan, and we work those details out with you and your venue before the day. The Westminster venues in our guide show the range: a reception barn that holds 80 at the Carroll County Farm Museum, a patio that can serve as the dance floor at Montagu Meadows, and a fully walled tent with solid flooring at the Christian Royer House.

Can we mix music styles through the day?

Yes. At Jake and Stephanie's wedding the bridal party walked in to a piano and violin cover, the introductions ran from Sara Bareilles to T.I. to Michael Jackson, and the first dance and parent dances were all country. Juan and Jessica chose violin covers of pop love songs for the ceremony and filled their Must Play list with Latin music for the reception, along with wedding classics like September. Four of their picks are on our list of the top 12 wedding salsa songs.

What lighting works in a barn, a tent or a glass pavilion?

Uplighting warms up wood beams and canvas walls, and dance floor lighting tells everyone the party has started. At Juan and Jessica's reception in the Antrim 1844 pavilion, DJ Steve made a room draped in mauve, white, gold and pastel pink glow with custom uplighting. We match the colors to your event and adjust the look as the evening moves from dinner to dancing. See event lighting.

Can we add a photo booth to a Westminster wedding?

Yes. Photo booths are a hit at farm and barn weddings, where guests of every age are looking for something fun to do. Pick a backdrop and props, and your guests go home with a keepsake.

Which of your DJs have played Antrim 1844?

Jordan Solender played Jake and Stephanie's wedding and Hannah and Justin's minimony, and DJ Steve Hartka played Juan and Jessica's and Steve and Erica's. To meet the person who runs events at the venue, read our interview with Katie Coon, Special Events Manager at Antrim 1844.

How does planning with our DJ work?

We start with a free planning call. You choose your music in our online planning portal, and your DJ acts as MC on the day so the schedule stays on track.

Do you DJ company and community events in Westminster?

Yes. We play company picnics, fundraisers, school events and milestone parties around Carroll County. Tell us who will be there and what the event is for, and we plan the music for the crowd you actually have. See our corporate event DJs page.
