Surrounded by nature and farmland, it’s no surprise that the wedding venues in and around Westminster, MD tend to be charmingly rustic. Barns, meadows, and stables all make scenic backdrops to Westminster weddings.

We’ve collected a few of our favorite venues to share, but there’s no shortage of beautiful farms in the area to delight the country couple!

The Christian Royer House

Clocking in at a whopping 193 years old, the Christian Royer House may be one of the oldest properties we’ve ever featured! The house itself is clad in red brick with classic green shutters, which makes it a lovely focal point. There’s also a historic cabin on the property, which can be used as another backdrop.

For ceremonies, most couples choose to say their vows under the shade of a massive tree on the banks of the property’s pond. And at reception time, there’s a fully-walled white tent — complete with solid flooring — where the party can go on in comfort.

Montagu Meadows

With a farming history like the one around Westminster, there’s no shortage of barn venues. Montagu Meadows has turned their 1800s barn on a former horse farm into a gorgeous wedding location.

Ceremonies can be held in the orchard under the branches of mature trees. Or they can take place overlooking the property’s pond and stream. In the event of rain, there’s also an on-site tent where couples can say their vows, safe from inclement weather.

For the reception, head into the huge barn, lit with shimmering crystal chandeliers. There’s an adjoining 2,000 sq ft patio space that can serve as a dance floor, or simply provide a place for guests to get some fresh air during the evening.

Carroll County Farm Museum

Another barn venue?

Yes, another barn venue!

The Carroll County Farm Museum is dedicated to the local area’s farming history. But it’s also a beautiful spot for a wedding! Their main reception barn at the museum has a capacity of 80, which makes it a perfect venue for more intimate family groups.

For ceremonies, the garden and gazebo make a lovely natural setting. There are also two covered pavilions where guests can sit sheltered from the sun or rain.

Make sure to stop by the covered bridge for photos!

Westminster Riding Club

There’s not much “riding” happening these days at the Westminster Riding Club. But there is plenty of swimming, and there are plenty of weddings.

Ceremonies can be held inside or outside in the courtyard area. The showstopper of this venue is the banquet hall, featuring a soaring cathedral ceiling clad in horizontal planking, creating a one-of-a-kind feature.

The club has its own exclusive caterer, KC Elite Hospitality, which can make you a custom menu to delight your guests.
