Josh and Becky’s seaside wedding at the Chesapeake Beach Rod ‘N’ Reel Resort was a summertime dream. Everyone (including Maryland’s DJ) enjoyed blue skies, sea air, and a lot of laughs.

After postponing their original wedding date by several months, the couple decided to go forward with their Rod ‘N’ Reel Resort wedding — with a reduced guest count.

Rod ‘N’ Reel may sound like a casual fish and chip shack, but this gorgeous resort is no such thing. With two marinas, a full-service spa, and a high-end seafood restaurant, this is a relaxing and luxurious retreat.

Josh and Becky held their ceremony outside overlooking the marina and sea beyond. The venue has a white columned “wedding dome” that makes a beautiful ceremony site. Becky entered to a violin and piano cover of Ed Sheeran’s Perfect featuring Pachelbel’s Canon in D.

The whole day was captured by two of our favorite local photographers, Brea and Tommy of Photography by Brea. Unfortunately, Brea learned about the dangers of shooting an outdoor wedding. Sorry Brea.

After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the deck of the Boardwalk Cafe, with its beachy, tropical vibes. Then it was off to the wedding tent for the reception. Josh is a bit of an EDM nut, so the bridal party entered to Bangarang by Skrillex. And of course, the DJ team held the bride and groom’s intro until the beat dropped at 2:45.

The wedding tent is right on the docks, with beautiful views of the sea all around. Since the guest list was reduced, it was easy to keep the tables at a safe social distance.

The couple’s first dance was another EDM pick — Dave Audé’s remix of Maren Morris’ The Bones. PS: take a look at what some clever uplighting can do to a simple white tent!

After dinner, the guests hit the dance floor. There were more EDM songs to come, like Would You Ever by Skrillex & Poo Bear and Tell Me You Love Me by Galantis & Throttle. They also had some more mainstream tunes, including Higher Love by Kygo and Whitney Houston, and Sugar, We’re Going Down by Fall Out Boy.

Giant glow sticks helped to create a rave-y vibe, and this close group of friends and family danced all night. When they needed a break, they took pictures at our contactless photo booth

When all was over, Becky and Josh got a send-off under the glow sticks, bringing this perfect day to an end.
