It’s been a weird year for music (along with everything else!)

Many major releases have been delayed, because the associated tours are obviously not an option right now. And music festivals like Coachella and SXSW have been cancelled.

So where does that leave the year’s best new wedding songs? Fortunately, we’re still getting some new tunes, like a surprise album from Taylor Swift and a new visual release form Beyoncé.

The Maryland’s DJ team has each selected their top wedding song for 2020, whether it’s a brand new release or a holdover from 2019. Add these jams to the “must play” list for your wedding!

Bad Boy by Yung Bae

DJ Jesse Baker chose Yung Bae’s 2019 release Bad Boy as his favorite dance song of 2020. He likes to play it just before opening the floor because “...it says ‘get your ass to the dance floor’...and people listen!”

This tune blends disco, pop, and hip hop into an infectious dance floor hit.

Don’t Start Now by Dua Lipa

Owner and DJ Jordan Solender is really feeling Dua Lipa’s Don’t Start Now this year. As the lead single for her 2020 album Future Nostalgia, this song combines 1980s synth and a funk bassline.

It has a more mature vibe than some of her previous releases, but it’s still a pop hit

Nobody’s Love by Maroon 5

DJ Mebaa says, “Maroon 5 just don't miss. The melody, video and touch of social commentary perfectly match the times while still being a vibrant, funky summer anthem!”

The “touch of commentary” he’s referring to is a message at the end of the video is about decriminalizing marijuana — a law which is enforced disproportionately against Black and brown people.

Señorita by Shawn Mendes feat. Camila Cabello

DJ Steven Hartka chose last year’s sultry Señorita, since it still keeps the dance floor moving in 2020.

“It’s pretty tough to pick a song from 2020 since most major acts shelved their releases,” Steven said. “That being said, I loved playing Señorita when it first came out in 2019 and still drop it into sets if it fits in with the crowd and atmosphere. I’m a sucker for a good guitar riff, and also love tracks with both a guy and girl doing vocals!”

Everything You Touch is Gold by Gregory Porter

Social media manager Syd chose Gregory Porter’s Everything You Touch is Butter for her favorite wedding song of 2020.

“This song is straight butter,” she said. “It’s a perfect first dance song and feels like watching a sunset.”

Everything you touch is gold

That’s why my soul is shinin’

Feel just like I’m just ten years old

Everything is new and surprisin’

Adore You by Harry Styles

Content writer Kate (who, yes, is writing this about herself in the third person) is loving Harry Styles’ post-One-Direction-direction.

Clever songwriting? Check.

1970s-inspired pop-rock jams? Check.

Bowie-esque androgyny? Double check.

Adore You is an ode to loving someone so much that you’d do anything for them, but it’s upbeat enough to keep people on the dance floor.

What’s Love Got to Do With It by Kygo and Tina Turner

DJ Brian’s favorite 2020 song so far is the remix of What’s Love Got to do With It by Kygo and Tina Turner.

Brian says, “Just about everyone knows the lyrics to the original song and likes to sing along to it. Plus, Kygo added a nice mid tempo deep house beat to it which compliments the fun retro vibe of the song. I’ve enjoyed playing this for bridal party entrances and on the dance floor.”

Dance Monkey by Tones and I

2019’s Dance Monkey by Australian newcomer Tones and I combines a catchy minimalist backing track with Toni Watson’s unique voice. It’s DJ Ebi’s choice as the song that gets the dance floor moving!

And if you haven’t watched it yet, enjoy the delightfully offbeat video below.
