Ever imagined yourself getting married on a mountaintop? That’s where happy couple Mic and Corie tied the knot in their beautiful September wedding.

At Wisp Resort in McHenry, Maryland, couples can say their vows on top of the world, with panoramic views of the resort and Deep Creek Lake below. Fortunately, there’s a ski lift, so DJ Ebi didn’t have to schlep the ceremony equipment up the mountain on his back.

The bridal party walked down the aisle atop the mountain to Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s Somewhere Over the Rainbow — very fitting, considering the location! When it was time for Corie to make her entrance, the music went live with a friend playing the guitar.

Cocktail hour and the reception were held in the valley down below, in the Mountain Mist Tent. This white draped tent with sparkly chandeliers provided a clean slate for us to upgrade with our uplighting. Bright reds, greens, and blues gave the tent a party vibe once it was time to open the dance floor.

One of the best parts of this Wisp Resort wedding was the music! Mic and Corie picked some fantastic songs for their special moments.

The bridal party entered the reception to My Type by Saint Motel, which is one we don’t get to play very often! For the couple’s first dance, they chose Dontchange by Musiq Soulchild. With lyrics like this, we’re actually surprised isn’t chosen more often for first dances:

I was meant for you and you were meant for me, yeah

And I'll make sure that I'll be everything you need, yeah

Girl the way we are is how it’s gonna be

Just as long as your love don't change

Corie and her father then danced to This Dance by Scott Thomas Laughridge, and Mic and his mom danced to A Song for Mama by Boyz 2 Men.

This was a fun-loving crowd, which became apparent when DJ Ebi opened the dance floor. The guests danced hard — easy to do with so many great music choices by the couple. Their musical tastes ranged from reggaeton to hip hop to R&B to soul to pop. On the must play list:

We also brought one of our touchless photo booths to Mic and Corie’s reception, so their guests could take plenty of hands-free portraits. The backdrop was custom designed by our own Jordan Solender!

This Wisp Resort wedding was photographed by Glenn Clevenger III of I Live Art. Glenn does both “traditional” wedding photos and unique compositions that play with color and layout. This was our first time working with Glenn, and we love how his pictures capture the movement of the dance floor!

We had a blast with this fun crowd, and DJ Ebi was thrilled to spin such a lively mix of classic dance songs and original choices.

If we can help you to curate a fantastic musical mix, let us know! We’re currently booking weddings for the rest of 2020 and for the 2021 wedding season.
